We are now 3 weeks into this unusual time of shelter-in-place. This Coronavirus pandemic has brought everything to a standstill including our practices. Spring is normally the fun-nest time, field hockey-wise. It's a time when we get to compete in tournaments and prove how far we've each come as a player and a team. For now, those plans are on hold until we can get this pandemic under control.
However, this does not mean that you (our club players) have the greatest excuse to sit and watch TV or binge watch the endless options on Netflix. The outdoors is still available to you for essential activities such as hiking or walking or basically, staying healthy. And in case you missed it, Coach Leaf sent out an email with field hockey homework! That's right. You still have things to do. We don't know when or how this Spring season will start up. The local tournaments, for the most part, have been rescheduled to May. And we need to be ready. You need to be ready. So, get on these homework tasks. Keep your body and mind going. And we'll see you as soon as we can get to the fields. Homework 1: Some fun dribbling to do. If you don’t have cones, use a small object like a glass…. Don’t break it ! :p https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2HknbpzEOhw JK… try plastic cups. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-BMOfmJDtCU 8 cone awkward dribbling circuit... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NSkpQQMGOhg Passing, we will eventually do for technical training!! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dDx3pWp59Rk Defensive receiving as a step up to play and control the ball. Enjoy! Feel free to write back and tell Coach Leaf ([email protected]) what you think if you feel like it. She'll send more next week. Stay SAFE!
